One UFA who's most likely disappointed with his summer is defenceman John Klingberg.

A right-handed offensive defenseman is rare, and as one, Klingberg was hoping to hit it big as a free agent.

Last December, he reportedly turned down an eight-year, $58 million ($7.25 million AAV) deal from the Dallas Stars because his agent believed he could get more. He and his camp went into this summer looking for a seven-year deal at around $8.5 million per season, which seems like a lot for a 29-year-old.

Unfortunately for the Swede, no team was willing to offer that, so he fired his agent. His new agent was able to get him a one-year, $7 million contract with the Anaheim Ducks.

However, it's alleged that one Eastern Conference team was willing to offer Klingberg a multi-year deal.

According to Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun, the Ottawa Senators reportedly offered the defenseman a four-year deal:

The Senators have been one of the most active teams this offseason and a team expected to improve next season. The club brought in Alex Debrincat, Claude Giroux and Cam Talbot. The only thing the team is missing, of course, is a top-pairing right-handed defenseman.
