Phil Kessel was drafted 5th overall by the Boston Bruins in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft. Three years later, he was dealt to the Toronto Maple Leafs in exchange for two first round picks and a second rounder.

Kessel went on to establish himself as one of the game's most lethal snipers, forcing some Boston fans to ask themselves if the franchise had given up on their top pick too early.

Today, Kessel is a well-established veteran that could provide both some depth scoring and leadership to a team looking to make a deep run in the playoffs. The 34-year-old currently sits second on the Arizona Coyotes with 33 points in 52 games.

NBC Sports' Adam Gretz wrote last week that a Kessel trade would make a lot of sense for the Yotes as we approach the deadline. He went on to add his own prediction, mentioning that a reunion between Kessel and the B's could benefit both sides.

Kessel is set to become an unrestricted free agent this summer, so it makes sense for the B's to spend what's a fairly low price to acquire the two-time Stanley Cup winner. He might be a few years removed from his 30-goal campaigns, but he's still capable of sniping a few pucks in the back of the net.
