It was a trade that fans were hoping for since trade deadline rumours began circulating. The Bruins were in need of adding a quality left-hander on their blue line and they got just what they were hoping for in Hampus Lindholm.
The former first rounder was acquired by the Bruins from the Anaheim Ducks in a blockbuster deal deal last night and the latest buzz is that the he'll be inking a multi-year extension with the B's as early as today.
Lindholm is set to become an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season after signing a 6-year, $31 500 000 contract with the Ducks in 2016. The contract has a cap hit of $5 205 556.
Now that he's landed in Beantown, Lindholm and his agent have already began planning his future:
A smooth-skating defenseman capable of playing a 200-foot game in all situations, Lindholm is looking to reboot his career on an offensive-minded club such as the Bruins.
With Charlie McAvoy locked up for another seven years, it would make sense for the B's to do the same with his potential partner. Despite being less than 24 hours removed from the deal, speculative numbers for Lindholm's contract have already been leaked.
It'll be interesting to see how the Bruins and GM Don Sweeney asses the situation, with the potential of making their new-comer a member of the Bruins for life.
