The date for Marchand's appeal hearing has been revealed
By now, just about everyone has heard about the 6-game suspension to Bruins winger Brad Marchand and his comments on the lengthy ban, but now we finally know when Marchand's appeal hearing will take place.
Per Boston Hockey Now's Joe Haggerty, by way of Bruins head coach Bruce Cassidy, apparently Brad Marchand is currently en route to New York to meet with the League in person on Wednesday for his appeal.
Marchand is making a case surrounding how his actions, while undeniably immature, were more about getting under his opponent's skin than they were about hurting anyone. As Marchand pointed out last week, Pens goaltender Tristan Jarry was well protected, and Marchand was never looking to injure him. He also felt that the league was punishing the player history rather than the incident itself.
The feisty winger has already served two games of his 6-game suspension, sitting out against the Carolina Hurricanes on February 10th and again on February 12th against the Ottawa Senators. He'll miss one more game before his hearing on Wednesday, as the Bruins will be in New York to take on the Rangers on Tuesday.
If his suspension is indeed reduced, we could see Marchand back in the lineup as soon as Thursday in Long Island.
