The biggest story from the Eastern Conference Quarterfinal series between the Boston Bruins and the Carolina Hurricanes was "the game within the game," as they call it.

Which was the battle between Brad Marchand and Hurricanes' defenseman Tony DeAngelo. We all know what happened. Marchand called DeAngelo a racist and then went on the score five points in a 5-2 win for the Bruins. It wasn't without its drama, though, as DeAngelo first cross-checked Curtis Lazar in the chin and threw his stick at Marchand while he had a breakaway and an empty net. And of course, there was a war of words after the game within the media, as both players played the whole situation off pretty cool.

The Hurricanes eliminated the Bruins on Saturday night, but apparently, DeAngelo had one last thing to say about Marchand, and it might actually surprise you:

"I got a lot of respect for Marchand, unbelievable player with the puck. I don't mind the other stuff; I happen to like it. He's a gamer. Great player."

Just like when one team eliminates the other, all the players forget about their problems and shake hands after a hard-fought series. Which is genuinely the biggest show of respect from one team to another in all professional sports. When it comes down to it, most NHL players have massive respect for one another because they know how hard it really is to make it that far.
