Tyson Jost returned to Denver on Tuesday night, as he and the Minnesota Wild took on the Stanley Cup champion Colorado Avalanche. Jost was drafted 10th overall by the Avalanche in the 2016 Entry Draft and was an NHL regular until he was traded to the Wild last season for Nico Sturm.

The 24-year-old admitted that he suffered some ''dark days'' as he saw his former teammates on the Avalanche lift the Stanley Cup just a few months after he was traded. After the championship celebrations, Jost reportedly received a lot of hateful messages from Colorado fans, expressing that they would not have won the Cup if he was still on the team.

''There were definitely nights where I wasn't sleeping and going through a pretty emotional time Mentally, I was already dealing with some stuff, and then you see [mean-spirited messages from Avalanche fans saying we wouldn't have won the cup if you hadn't been traded' and other vile comments], it made it worse.''

''You dream of winning the Cup, and then you see your best friends doing that. It was just a lot of tears. Just sucked.''

Former Avs teammate and good friend Alex Newhook responded to the story:

''It's hard to hear stuff like that. He's a guy that meant a lot to this team for a long time and it's definitely not the way that he would have liked to see things happen with us after him leaving.''
