Now we know why one of the strangest trades in Bruins history happened.

On July 4, 2013, Boston sent Seguin, 21, along with Rich Peverley and Ryan Button to Dallas. In exchange, the Bruins received Loui Eriksson and three prospects (Joe Morrow, Reilly Smith and Matt Fraser).

Thanks to a behind-the-scenes video, we have some footage of what happened in the Bruins' War Room before the trade.

At the end of the season, management held its free agency meetings where then-general manager Peter Chiarelli wanted to re-sign Nathan Horton. To do that, the Bruins would have to cut a player.

The consensus was that, while talented, the youngster fit into the culture built by guys like Zdeno Chara, Patrice Bergeron and David Krejci.

As Cam Neely states in the video, the team hasn't seen a season-over-season improvement from the second overall pick.

Not only that, but the Bruins were unimpressed by his immaturity. Tyler's father, Paul, even talked about it. According to the Toronto Star:

''He has a good time every now and then, and it's in the media, it was something the Bruins thought should never happen.''

«Even though it happened once, twice or three times, the Bruins didn't like it to happen even once. »
