The Florida Panthers organization and the NHL are all fixing their eyes to the sky as newly formed Hurricane Milton may jeopardize the season opener between the Bruins and the Panthers.

The Panthers organization decided yesterday to cancel the Stanley Cup ring ceremony as state officials have deemed several counties including Broward County, Palm and Dade county under a state of emergency.

The Panthers have also announced that opening night between the Bruins and the Panthers is still going forward as it's been noted the Bruins are in Florida now. This situation remains fluid and ever changing as the path of Milton is extremely uncertain.

According to the National Hurricane Center in Coral Gables FL, the storm is on track to head due east towards the Sunshine State and will take an unusual path towards the West Coast. Forecasters are monitoring the path as two potential scenarios are playing out where the storm could head further north towards Tampa Bay which would have implications to the Tampa Bay Lightning and Amalie Arena or it could head further South and potentially strike the Fort Myers area and cross near Sunrise where the Panthers play.

It's also forecast this storm could be a potential Category 4 or even Category 5 which would have disastrous complications to infrastructure, buildings and storm surge.
It remains to be seen on what will happen but the NHL and both Florida organizations will monitor the situation as it becomes clearer to which way Milton will make landfall.
