News broke yesterday that the Columbus Blue Jackets are parting ways with besieged winger Patrick Laine which has led many pundits to say that the Boston Bruins should avoid signing him.

The 26-year-old right winger has had a tough time in the NHL since being drafted in 2016. Loaded with talent, many teams would consider signing him or at least inquiring if he would be a good fit but as mentioned, he has consistency problems along with injury trouble that present obstacles for any playoff team that would want to retain his services.

He currently has two more years on his contract and his cap hit is worth $8.7 million per year. Currently of teams bankrolling other trades, the Columbus Blue Jackets would need to retain a portion of his salary and potentially another team would need to enter the deal to make it all work.

The Bruins are looking for scoring help as it was shown in the playoffs they will need more goal scoring in order to be successful. The Bruins are in desperate need of center help as the team is still reeling from the major retirements of Patrice Bergeron and David Krejci.

Adding Laine doesn't seem to make sense and likely will continue have his troubles even with his new team.
