Marchand sat down with reporters after practice and gave his brutally honest take on what he thinks about this year's prospects and the fact that they had one good game and that it will take more to make the team.
Marchand has been taking a stark tone ever since he's become captain of the Bruins as he has transitioned into their leader after being anointed last year. It's clear that he looking to explain to these youngsters that hard work is ahead, and that one good game is not going to cut what the coaching staff is looking for.
The 21-year-old Lysell who stands at 5 foot 11 and 176 lbs was drafted by the Bruins in the 2021 entry draft, first round 21st overall. According to eliteprospects.com, Lysell is an elite skater who has great speed and a touch to score goals. Last season in Providence, he played 56 games, scoring 15 goals with 35 assists for 50 points.
Merkulov who is 23 years old played for Providence last season had a successful one as he played 67 games, scoring 30 goals with 35 assists for 65 points.
The Bruins captain has emerged after an eventful summer as he had undergone three surgeries to repair various parts of his body. He has been working diligently to try to be ready for opening night and there has been speculation that he may not be ready until he's fully healed.
But the team continues to evaluate as they took a tough loss against the New York Rangers 5-2 and are looking forward to their next game which will take place against the Philadelphia Flyers. Game time will be on September 28th at 7:00 PM eastern at the Wells Fargo Center.
