Boston Bruins Charlie Coyle fired back at Jim Montgomery after he called out the whole top-six of the Boston Bruins following their 4-3 loss to the Florida Panthers.

The Boston Bruins have had a schedule with mixed results to start off the 2024-25 season, and will now be heading on their first road trip of the season.

In just their first four games, the Bruins have faced off against the Florida Panthers twice already in just six days. Following their loss to the Florida Panthers at TD Garden, Jim Montgomery took no accountability and called out the Boston Bruins top-six forwards, and he highlighted Charlie Coyle as someone he wants to see step up.

«Charlie Coyle, he looks like he's not up to speed right now, but he'll get there,» Jim Montgomery told reporters Tuesday, per a team-provided video. «He's a veteran player that we've relied on in so many areas. I don't have concerns about Charlie getting to where he needs to be.»

In four games Charlie Coyle has zero points and has a -5 +/- rating to start off the season for the Bruins. Not just Charlie Coyle but the whole middle six has not been producing for the Bruins. Coyle understood he needs to be better.

«I think he's right,» Coyle said. «There's some games, mostly the games we lost, we're kind of hesitant a little bit. We're not on our toes, and we're not first to battles. When you're late to battles, it's hard to win most of them. I'm not saying that as an excuse, but we gotta be on our toes. We gotta be ready to go in the corners, in front of the net, wherever the battle is, right off the baseline. Kind of everywhere on the ice, we just got to dig in a little bit and go into battles saying, ''Hey, I'm gonna go win this thing.'' Put that in your mind, you'd be amazed how often you come up with the puck or you win that. We need to do a little more of that.»

Charlie Coyle is taking accountability unlike Jim Montgomery, and noted he needs to get inside more and just simplify his game to help the Bruins. Charlie Coyle will get a chance to prove himself on Wednesday against the Colorado Avalanche.
