It appears that Bruins superstar David Pastrnak could miss the entire next season as it was reported at the end of this season that he may require hip surgery which would keep him out long term.

The news was revealed after Czechia won the gold medal and Pastrnak was interviewed asking if he was healthy entering the tournament. Pastrnak responded that he is not healthy and has a hip issue that needs to be dealt with. It appears that work was done on his hip that was non-surgical that helped him get through the tournament and he claims that he hasn't felt this good in eight months.

This is not the first time he has had hip issues. Back in 2021, he had undergone surgery for his hip which led him to miss around 5 months of playing time. Other players around the league have undergone these kinds of procedures which include Red Wings forward Patrick Kane.

Kane, received an invasive procedure that three NHL players have returned to play in action after receiving treatment. It was hip resurfacing surgery which has allowed Kane to play at the same level he did prior to the injury.

It remains to be seen on what will happen to Pastrnak whether it's this type of surgery or another but if the doctors in Boston are stating that he will need this work done, it's likely the Bruins will be without one of their best players for the foreseeable future.

This could have cap implications for the Bruins to which they may be able to quote and acquire another winger as Pastrnak cap hit would go on the long-term injury reserve.
