Patrice Bergeron was hurt in the Bruins (irrelevant) regular season finale in Montreal and despite fans anger about it, there was a special reason he played.

Some Things Are More Important

It was first thought that a tough illness was what was keeping the captain out of Boston's lineup, until Jim Montgomery confirmed it it was also injury on Wednesday. Which led to fans showing their displeasure toward the fact that Montgomery let Bergeron play against the Canadiens to begin with.

However, as Dominic Tiano shared, there was a very special reason that Bergeron was in the lineup. Proving that family always comes first:

''Patrice Bergeron's father is battling cancer. He wanted to play in front of his father in Montreal for possibly the last time. Even wanted to go back out there after he went to the room. I'm told that doesn't matter. Shouldn't have played. Wow. I'm stunned and at a loss for words.''

It was first reported that Bergeron insisted on playing in Montreal and hearing the real reason helps you see why he did.
