The Boston Bruins have quickley replaced Hampus Lindholm after suffering an injury with an unexpected defenseman.

Yesterday facing off against the St. Louis Blues, the Bruins were hit with some terrible injury news after just the first period.

Towards the end of the first period the Boston Bruins were on the penalty kill after Justin Brazeau ended up taking a hooking penalty. During the penalty kill, Hampus Lindholm ended up blocking a shot from Justin Faulk.

Lindholm looked like he was in some pain, and would remain on the bench for a minute before leaving to go down the tunnel to the Bruins locker room.

NESN broadcast shows Hampus Lindholm going to the room with 2:00 left in the first after that big shot block. He stayed on the bench for a minute at first.

Here is the block that caused Lindholm to exit the game:

Hampus Lindholm went to the locker room shortly after blocking this shot from Justin Faulk. Looks like Lindholm took the puck off the left knee.

To start the second period it was noted that Hampus Lindholm was not on the bench with the Boston Bruins.

Not long after the Boston Bruins revealed that Lindholm was not going to return to the game after suffering a lower-body injury.

UPDATE: Hampus Lindholm (lower-body) will not return to tonight's game.

Now the Boston Bruins have quickly called up Jordan Oesterle from the Providence Bruins to replace Hampus Lindholm with the Boston Bruins.

This is questionable, as the Bruins had multiple players during training camp that impressed them but instead they decided to go with 32 year-old Jordan Oesterle, who as Bruins Network has stated does have 8 points in 9 games, but is prone to making a lot of questionable turnovers, something the Bruins have been terrible at all season long.

Jordan Oesterle, 32, is a veteran left-shot defender who's up to 3G-5A-8PTS in 9GP for Providence. Despite the production, I actually find he's kinda loose with the puck and prone to some questionable turnovers. Moves the puck well though and has 371 GP in the NHL. #NHLBruins
