Yesterday the Boston Bruins starting clearing house after the signing of Jeremy Swayman. The two sides finally agreed on a deal, and left the Bruins with minimal cap space, plus the Boston Bruins have to submit their NHL roster for opening night by 5pm.
In doing so, the Boston Bruins placed five players on the waiver wire with intentions to return them to the Providence Bruins in the American Hockey League.
The five players consisted of, Brandon Bussi, Jiri Patera, Patrick Brown, Billy Sweezey, and Jeffrey Viel.
Teams had until 2pm today to claim players off of waivers, and Elliotte Friedman revealed that a Boston Bruins player was claimed.
Elliotte Friedman reported that the Vancouver Canucks claimed Jiri Patera off of waivers today.
On September 19th the Boston Bruins signed Jiri Patera as a free agent. The Bruins signed him for goaltending depth as the Bruins, and Jeremy Swayman did not seem close to reaching a deal before the season opener.
In the end, with the Vancouver Canucks claiming Jiri Patera, it won't hurt or effect the Boston Bruins.
