Big hockey magazine disrespected Matthew and Johnny Gaudreau following their death
On September 9th, 2024 both Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau were laid to rest in a funeral service. The service took place in St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church, in Media, PA.
However, the disrespect was palpable that day, as The Hockey News saw fit to give the Gaudreau brothers the headlines for the newspaper.
The brothers should've been front and center on the magazine, but The Hockey News saw fit to keep the Gaudreau's off-center, giving a spot to Bet MGM instead.
While we understand that papers have deadlines to meet, but for a special circumstance this seems like a massive oversight, for an NHL All-Star and his brother.
Johnny Gaudreau and Matthew Gaudreau's deaths have caused the hockey community to act in solidarity, and to see an esteemed media giant act like this is disheartening and disrespectful to the memory of the brothers.
