2022 NHL Free Agency might be the busiest one fans have seen in a long time!
Several NHL clubs have already not qualified valuable RFAs and some big names are also available.
Perhaps the biggest one though, was just reported to be hitting the open market for the first time in his career.
As per TSN's Darren Dreger, longtime Pittsburgh Penguins star Evgeni Malkin will officially become a free agent on Wednesday.
''Sources say Evgeni Malkin has decided to go to the open market on Wednesday. Malkin has never been a free agent before and wants to see what his options are.''
Malkin, 35, has spent his entire 16 year career with the Penguins and was one of the pieces of the trio (Crosby, Letang) that won three Stanley Cups.
Appearing in 981 career games, Geno has recorded 444 goals and 702 assists for a total of 1,146 points.
He also has 67 goals and 113 assists in 177 postseason games.
