The Nashville Predators and Colorado Avalanche are in the midst of their game three matchup at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville. The Avalanche have a 2-0 lead in their best-of-seven series and are currently up 2-1 after one period this afternoon.
The biggest news was a terrible injury that occurred near the end of the period to Avalanche's goaltender Darcy Kuemper. Predators' forward Ryan Johansen accidentally got his stick blade stuck in Kuemper's face mask and appeared to catch the netminder in the eye.
Kuemper seemed to be in serious trouble as he started to skate towards the bench and fell to the ice halfway. A really scary injury that brings up a valid question: Why do they mask the mask holes big enough for a stick blade to fit through?
