Ethan Bear has been in trade rumors for a while now, as he couldn't crack a stacked Carolina Hurricanes top six defense core.
According the NHL insider Kevin Weekes, the Canes have reportedly found a trade partner. As per Weekes:
**Keep an eye 👁 on**
I'm told the @Canes are closing on a potential trade of D Ethan Bear and a non @NHL roster player in exchange for a 5th Rd Pick from the @Canucks. Situation remains fluid **

Bear, 25, has yet to appear in a game this season for reasons we noted to above. In 190 career games with the Edmonton Oilers and Hurricanes, and has registered 13 goals and 34 assists.
Frank Seravalli of Daily Faceoff confirmed the news moments later.
Awaiting confirmation, but believe full deal is:
To #Canucks: D Ethan Bear, F Lane Pederson
To #Canes: 2023 5th round Born and raised in Saskatchewan, Bear was selected in the fifth round (124th overall) by the Oilers in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft.
