David Pastrnak is on an absolute tear to start the 2022-23 NHL season. Through the first eight games, he has registered 6 goals and 9 assists and is in a three-way tie for the lead league in points (15) with Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl of the Edmonton Oilers.

The only problem for the Boston Bruins is that with every passing game, Pasta is adding to his value, and as we all know, is due for a contract after this season. Pierre LeBrun of TSN and The Athletic recently shared an update on the negotiations:

''Dialogue continues between Pastrnak camp and the B's. But my read is that there's still some sizeable gaps in position. This could be a grind of a negotiation like we saw with Forsberg/Preds, which went to the wire. In each case, player wants to stay put, but what's fair $$$..''

General manager Don Sweeney met with the media after last night's game and shared that there are no updates as of now on the Pastrnak contract situation.

''J.P. (Barry) [Pastrnak's agent] and I generally talk almost every day.''

''Just trying to find the common ground, and hopefully, we get to a point that we can announce, but we're not there. The communication has been good, just haven't found the end point yet.''

It's encouraging to hear that Pasta wants to stay in Boston. However, a deal as soon as possible is obviously ideal!
