The Carolina Hurricanes are already without their starting goaltender Frederik Anderssen, and now the backup and playoff starter Antti Raanta was forced to leave the game against the Boston Bruins in the first period.
On a Bruins' powerplay, Taylor Hall dumped the puck into the Hurricanes' end. As David Pastrnak was trying to retrieve it, Raanta came out to play the puck, and the two collided.
Watch the play here:
Antii Raanta left the ice bleeding from around his mouth and has not returned. Rookie goaltender Pyotr Kochetkov is now in net for the Carolina Hurricanes. The status of Antti Raanta is unclear.
