"Boston Bruins general manager Don Sweeney spoke to the media yesterday about the contract negotiations with Charlie McAvoy and Brandon Carlo. While he felt positive about how things are going, he added that there was no pressure or timeframe to get things done immediately. That definitely didn't make it seem like Sweeney was going to give into to McAvoy or Carlo's demands and he was willing to wait them out. However it sounds like McAvoy is willing to get something done that helps both sides. According to NHL insider Pierre LeBrun, talks between McAvoy and the Bruins are heating up and there's been progress. He adds that the Zach Werenksi deal with the Columbus Blue Jackets really helped things to move forward but there's still work to be done. The 21 year old defenseman has dealt with some injury issues in his short career but has 60 points in 117 games over two seasons and has been a key part of the Bruins blueline.
