Last season, the Dallas Stars offered top defenseman John Klingberg an eight-year, $56 million contract that he and his camp subsequently turned down.
After a slow start to free agency, Klingberg decided to fire his greedy agent, Petter Wallin, as he was told he would get a bigger deal this summer that didn't come to fruition.
In turn, the Sweden native signed on with the reputable Newport Sports Agency. After changing representatives, he signed a one-year, $7 million deal with the Anaheim Ducks.
Klingberg hasn't even played one game in Anaheim, but according to Sportsnet's Mark Spector, the Oilers have already expressed interest in potentially bringing Klingberg to Edmonton if the Ducks fall out of the playoffs.
Spector also stated that Klingberg is only an option if general manager Ken Holland cannot bring in Patrick Kane of the Chicago Blackhawks.
