Roman Josi found the back of the net on Saturday night.
By doing so, the Predators captain boosted his 2021-22 regular season totals to 21 goals and 69 helpers.
Quick math: that puts Josi at 90 points, in just 76 games this campaign.
While plenty of guys reach the 90-point plateau in an NHL season, fact is that not many defensemen ever reach that milestone. As a matter of fact, Josi is the first blueliner to reach 90 points in close to 30 years!
Josi became just the first defenseman to reach the 90-point mark in a season since Ray Bourque did it with the Bruins back in 1993-94.
The B's Hall of Fame blueliner racked up 20 goals and 71 assists that season, good for 91 points in 72 regular season games.
Josi hit the milestone by netting his 10th power play goal this season. That also represents a first in the NHL since Josi's former teammate, Shea Weber, scored 12 with the Montreal Canadiens back in 2016-17.
Most fans will tell you that this season's Norris Trophy race is pretty much down to Roman Josi and Cale Makar at this point.
What an exciting season for the Preds captain!
