The Boston Bruins are one period away from going back home for game six, down 3-2 in their first-round series against the Carolina Hurricanes.

After two periods, the Hurricanes are up 2-0 on the Bruins. Carolina has one powerplay goal, and at least two of the man advantages were on somewhat controversial calls by the referees. Even though the officiating has been very inconsistent, the Hurricanes have also been the much better team tonight.

The Hurricanes' powerplay is just 1 for 4, but their third goal came just two seconds after a penalty had expired. However bad Boston has been playing, they also haven't had great luck either, especially on Seth Jarvis' goal that made it 3-0.

Bruins' defenseman Brandon Carlo went to clear the puck as he thought they were still killing a penalty, and the puck ricocheted off teammate Jake Debrusk's skate and bounced over the head of a sprawling Jeremy Swayman.

I guess as the old saying goes, "You have to be good to be lucky and lucky to be good!"

Boston has one more period to try and come back in game five, but if they can't, at least game six will be back at TD Garden to try and force a game seven.
