The best offensive defenseman to ever play the game is still Bobby Orr. Nobody can take away the fact that he single-handedly changed the way a defenseman could play in the NHL.

No player has been close to game-breaking as Orr was since Cale Makar of the Colorado Avalanche broke into the league back in the 2019 Stanley Cup Playoffs against the Calgary Flames.

He continued to amaze in his first postseason game of the 2022 playoffs.

Check out the impressive goal he scored last night in the Avalanche's game one action against the Nashville Predators:

2021-22 was Makar's first full season (pandemic reasons) in the NHL since he was drafted fourth overall at the 2017 Entry Draft. In 77 games played, he collected 28 goals and 58 assists for 86 points, and was also a plus 48 on the year.

Makar finished ninth in Norris Trophy voting in 2020 and second behind Adam Fox of the New York Rangers last season. No doubt he will be top three this season as well, with a real shot at winning it for the first time.

Cale Makar is a true game-breaker, just as Boston Bruin legend Bobby Orr was back in his day.

The goal that he scored last night looks very similar to an overtime winner that Makar scored against the Chicago Blackhawks in the regular season back in January:
