Since joining the Canucks, the 29-year-old has led the team in scoring in two of his three seasons in Vancouver, finishing second in the other campaign.

However, at the time of this writing, the Canucks have yet to offer star forward J.T. Miller a long-term contract.

While Miller still has one year left on his current five-year deal that pays him $5.25M per season, fans in Vancouver have been screaming for management to sign him to a lucrative extension.

The Canucks have a very young team that's loaded with talent at all positions and keeping a player of Miller's caliber would definitely help the Canadian franchise focus on years to come.

Miller's versatility is what truly sets him apart from other Vancouver forwards. He can play at center or wing, excels on the power play and is equally as efficient while shorthanded.

Vancouver finished last season 18th overall in the NHL standings, just five points shy of the final Wild Card playoff spot in the Western Conference, and it's no secret that Miller's 99-point campaign (32G, 67A) was a main factor behind the team's success.

So why has the team's management still not signed him to a long-term deal? Here's what the American-born had to say during an interview on former NHL enforcer John Scott's podcast :

Is Miller a part of the new management's plans? Do they not know how good he really is yet? Do they not intend on signing him once the season is done? Are they keeping him as potential trade bait?

We should know more in the coming months as the story unfolds. Stay tuned!
