The Boston Bruins have just revealed their starting goaltender for the regular season this year, and it's surprising.

Today the Boston Bruins held a press conference which saw Charlie Jacobs, Cam Neely, Don Sweeney and Jim Montgomery all speak to the media.

During the press conference Jim Montgomery revealed who is going to be the Boston Bruins starting goaltender for game one of the year, and it's not going to be Jeremy Swayman.

Jim Montgomery stated that Joonas Korpisalo is going to be the game one starter for the Bruins this year, but it's still unclear who is going to be the backup.

Jim Montgomery says that Joonas Korpisalo will be the #NHLBruins opening night starter in goal

Don Sweeney stated that the Bruins would obviously be a better team if Jeremy Swayman were with them on opening night, but are a big fan of how Joonas Korpisalo has played for them during the preseason so far, and that he has earned the spot to be the Boston Bruins starter come opening night.

Don Sweeney with an obvious statement here: «We're a better team if Jeremy [Swayman] is part of our hockey club.» Sweeney says that Joonas Korpisalo has earned the opening night start for the B's based on way he's played

Hopefully the Boston Bruins and Jeremy Swayman can come to an agreement on a deal soon.

The Boston Bruins first game of the year is going to be a test to see how Joonas Korpisalo, and the new comers play, as they immediately take on the Stanley Cup Champions from last year, the Florida Panthers.
