P.K. Subban calls out former Boston Bruin Cedric Pare after dirty hit on Patrik Laine
P.K. Subban called out former Boston Bruins player Cedric Pare after his dirty hit on Patrik Laine that has left him injured.
Subban was at the Bell Centre on Saturday to watch the Toronto Maple Leafs take on the Montreal Canadiens when Patrik Laine was on the receiving end of a knee-on-knee hit from former Boston Bruins forward Cedric Pare. This hit would cause Laine to leave the game, and he would not return.
The reason a lot of fans are upset with the hit is because Cedric Pare is an American Hockey league player, and doesn't have what it takes to make the NHL, and even Subban thinks this as well. Sunday, the day after the game, P.K. Subban took to social media to voice his opinion on Cedric Pare, and he didn't hold back.
"Cedric Pare, I didn't go to the game last night to watch him play," said Subban in a moment of brutal honesty. "I'm paying admission to watch Patrik Laine play, not him."
Subban stated that the whole league needs to show more respect to the superstar, and other superstars in general, but Laine's whole career has been filled with injuries.
"Patrik Laine deserves a lot more respect than the way he was treated last night," said Subban. "That should have never happened. Where is the respect for Patrik Laine? Where is the respect for superstars playing in the National Hockey League? I don't see it."
"There can't be any cheap shot on our superstars."
Subban then called out the former Boston Bruin for throwing a dirty hit, but not responding to when asked to drop the gloves for what he did. This made Arber Xhekaj feel like he had no choice but to "jump" him.
"Cedric you've got to fight," said Subban. "You can't walk away. Poor Arber Xhekaj doesn't know what to do."
He then went on to argue that the NHL does not do enough to protect superstars in the league, and stated the league has to do more to keep the superstars safe from plays like Pare on Laine.
"People pay big money to watch the superstars play," said Subban. "We gotta keep them on the ice, there's gotta be respect."
