The Boston Bruins, and Florida Panthers will have a chance to play each other on Monday, almost a week after first their first meeting of the season.

Last Tuesday the Boston Bruins faced the Florida Panthers for their season opening game and looked to get some revenge, most notably from Sam Bennett's sucker punch on Brad Marchand last year during the playoffs, and Matthew Tkachuk's punches while David Pastrnak was on the ground.

Both Tkachuk and Bennett did not engage in the Bruins looking to get revenge especially after getting off to a quick start and lighting up Bruins newly acquired goaltender Joonas Korpisalo.

It was clear the Panthers were in the Bruins head, and were just focused on getting revenge on the Panthers for the things they've done in the past instead of playing their game. After 20 minutes the Florida Panthers were up 4-1, and ended up beating the Bruins 6-4.

The Boston Bruins will need to keep their emotions in check when they play them again on Monday.

«We have to get back to playing hockey,» said coach Jim Montgomery before an optional practice on Sunday. «I love it that we have emotion and they're a rival. But at the same time, we have to be disciplined. We're taking too many penalties.»

Trent Frederic went after Matthew Tkachuk in the season opener, and took an unsportsmanlike penalty in the first period, after Matthew Tkachuk reportedly agreed to a fight and then backed out of it.

«If they don't want to fight, there's not much you can do about it,» said Frederic. «That's kind of the bummer part of it. It makes it more frustrating in that sense.»

Both Tkachuk and Frederic go way back as they grew up in the tight-knit hockey community that came out of St. Louis. The two have been friends and have known each other for a long time, but at the moment while being on rival teams, they aren't very found of each other.

«We sure were (friends). I grew up with him since I was probably five. But yeah, it's probably been different the last couple of years. But yeah, we're family friends,» said Frederic.

«It's business. I don't really care. Maybe when our careers are over, we can have a reconciliation. But right now, I can't stand him.»

It's clear that their friendship is on the back burner while being on rival teams. The Boston Bruins next game will be against the Florida Panthers as they look for revenge on the scoreboard.
